Dr. Hall recently joined the division from Northwestern University in Chicago where she completed her residency in Emergency Medicine as well as a two year National Research Service Award Postdoctoral Fellowship.  Drawing from a background in architecture, Dr. Hall's research interests focus on healthcare design and it’s affect on patient safety and quality of care. She is investigating the relationship between environmental design and healthcare systems to improve safety, patient flow and outcomes.  Dr. Hall is recognized nationally for her work in healthcare design and patient safety and is the American College of Emergency Physicians representative to the Health Guidelines Committee of the American Institute of Architects Academy of Architecture for Health and the Facilities Guidelines Institute for which she serves as the co-chair of the Emergency Services section. Recently, Dr. Hall was awarded a $200,000 patient safety grant from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality to study errors and adverse events in the Emergency Department
